My Story... Reading Poetry to Rome (Virtually)

twijeratne8

What an inspiring opening ceremony from World Congress Neurology Team. Simply the best.

I fondly recall my first gig at World Congress- only a read. Prof Nimal Senanayake (my first teacher in neurology) wrote a poem about the World Congress in London he attended- based on the opening ceremony. Just four lines based on the opening ceremony in London. The organisers recreated the historical practice of neurology. He was so clever to get the reader to imagine the full picture. No surprise. He is the best in the business I ever met- fortunate enough to be trained in my formative years by him.

I so wanted to be part of this World Congress magic one day. I never thought I would so heavily get involved with WFN at that time. That was in 1989-90 or so...

We were so looking forward to being in ROME today. Not to be. We still promote brain health. Check out the opening ceremony at the WCN, virtual yet the very best on offer. Thoroughly enjoyed.

I captured this image ( Capturing a picture from my screen). Young Neurologists and trainees are our future. The picture tells the story- Thank you, Italian Neurology Society- promoting quality brain health in Italy since 1907. Thank you, World Federation of Neurology- promoting quality brain health globally since 1957!
